This dream started with a passion for the sport of hockey, and a cap with a shark logo on it.
This cap belonged to my little brother and in accordance with my clumsiness and continuous bad luck, I managed to lose it on one of our (in)famous camping trips. It, literally, went “gone with the wind”, and with my bad constant bad conscience I swore that from that day always be faithful to that “Sharks” team. It wasn’t for nothing that this team made its entrance in my life though; being the new team in the NHL, just as the time came to let hockey cards be the biggest interest of my everyday early teenage life, this was a “perfect timing” for a young boy to fall in love with a team. As I always say: “you don’t choose your team; your team chooses you”.
Now, 25 years later, I keep on holding that promise and since Sharks are from San José… Hell yeah baby. As soon as the decision to go to San Francisco was made, going to a Sharks game at SAP Center was the number one thing to cross off my bucket list. There was not a chance in a “if hell would freeze over and water would turn into vine”-situation to stop me from making it to SAP Center while I was in the Bay Area.
No. Freakin’. Way.
Since Sharks had the opening night on home turf, choosing what game to attend was not even up for discussion. Said and done, on October 4 I took the Caltrain down to San José to fulfill this 25 year old dream.
There really are no words to describe this experience so I’ll just let you make up your own mind by viewing these pics. Unfortunately this platform doesn’t support uploading videos, otherwise you would have had a much bigger picture. But, a picture is still a picture; no matter moving or not.
So, please enjoy my boyish dreamy experience. If not for yourself, for me.
Life is too short not to make your dreams come true.
